The wife of former tennis champion Bob Hewitt has told the High Court in Johannesburg that she saw nothing wrong with his letters to a 12-year-old tennis student more than 30 years ago.
Delaille Hewitt said she was aware of one of three letters her husband penned to Theresa Tolken, who has accused him of rape.
In the letter, he reffers to Tolken as 'my love', Mrs Hewitt testified that he referred to everyone that way.
Hewitt has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, and one of indecent assault, involving Tolken, Suellen Sheehan, and a third
woman, who may not be named, in the 1980s and 19990s.
Judge Bert Bam then postponed the case to next Tuesday and warned Hewitt's lawyer Terry Price to have his four remaining witnesses available when proceedings resume.
