The Boardwalk Casino in Port Elizabeth has been ranked the top company in its industry in South Africa in the 2017/2018 Ask Afrika Orange Index.
According to a statement, this is the second consecutive year that The Boardwalk has received this highest accolade for service excellence in its industry category, which benchmarks service levels in South Africa.
"We are thrilled that The Boardwalk Casino has once again received the highest accolade in this respected survey," the statement said.
"The award bears testimony to our employees' commitment to service excellence, quality, professionalism, and innovation. That the award is based on the feedback from our customers is significant because there is no greater stamp of approval than the votes of confidence from our customers. They are the lifeblood of our business."
"Our team excelled in not only delivering excellent service but also in their knowledge of The Boardwalk and its offerings. They are true ambassadors for The Boardwalk and its values," said Boardwalk acting marketing manager, Martin Lodewijks.
The awards also come at a time when the Boardwalk has applied to the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board to amend its license conditions with a view to, among other things, reducing its staff numbers.
In a notice published recently in a local newspaper, Emfuleni Resorts, trading as the Boardwalk, proposes amendments to various clauses in its licence agreement, including a clause that would lead to the reduction of its staff numbers from 652 permanent workers to 400 full- and part-time employees.
The Boardwalk said that it had been losing revenue as a result of the impact of bingo venues in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
The license amendment application is still being considered by the ECGBB.
