Work on the R1.7-billion Baywest Mall along the N2 freeway in Port Elizabeth’s western suburbs is forging ahead, with work on the concrete super structure already underway as this aerial photograph, taken this week shows.
The concrete super structure shown on the right is the platform for mall tenant Pick n Pay, with the structure on the left is that of the general mall area.
Other major tenants include Foschini, Truworths, Game, Ster Kinekor, Edcon Group, Woolworths and Checkers Hyper, while a 2,500m² ice rink will be located in the mall’s Fun Factory zone. According to developers Abacus Asset Management and Billion Group, the super-regional mall is on track to open its doors in early 2015.
Note to editors: the photograph, taken from the west, shows the Baywest Mall site with Port Elizabeth in the background and the N2 freeway (top left). Sherwood is located to the top right, and Rowallan Park to the top left.
