Bicycles worth more than R100k stolen from IRONMAN competitors

Two bicycles belonging to participants at the IRONMAN 70.3 in Mossel Bay which were stolen from their guesthouse 48 hours before the event on Sunday are still missing.

The bicycles, valued at around R65 000 and R50 000 each, were stolen from out of the garage at The Bay Lodge On The Beach on Friday night.

They belonged to Belgian triathlete Ibrahim Cbibili and Cape Town resident Anne-Mari Lemmon.

Police have confirmed that several other items were also stolen from the premises.

A spokesperson for the guesthouse told Algoa FM News that camera footage shows two suspects approaching the area from the beach and then later walking away with the bikes and other stolen goods.

The circumstances surrounding the break-in are still being investigated. 

Da Gamaskop police are investigating a case of theft.
