Jeffrey's Bay police have arrested two men for stealing the same bicycle within ten minutes in two separate incidents.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says at around 1 pm on Monday, police responded to a complaint of a housebreaking in progress in Kwagga Street, Jeffreys Bay.
At the scene, police were given a description of a suspect who stole a bicycle from the garage.
Police spotted the man about three kilometres away from the scene and when he spotted the police he dropped the bicycle and fled towards a nearby informal settlement.
Police cornered him and arrested him moments later.
As police returned to the spot, where the bicycle was dropped, they say that it was missing.
However, the mountain bike's tyre prints led police to the nearest shack, where a bicycle was found and another man was arrested for possession of stolen property.
The two men aged 22 and 26 are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of theft, housebreaking and possession of the suspected stolen property.
