Management at Port Elizabeth's Bayworld say that they have been assured that a musical house party planned for the old tropical house at the end of this month, will not affect the animals in the adjacent Oceanarium and nearby Snake Park
About a thousand people are expected at the dance party on the 30th of November, which features several local DJ's as well as German DJ, Martin Stimming.
The event was advertised on Facebook.
Bayworld Human Resources Manager, Isaac Daniels, says its the first time an event of this nature will be held at that venue.
He says they had a meeting on Friday with the organisors as well as the fire department.
"Everything is in place, that's the assurance we were given in that meeting. They have also said in terms of the sound, the noise levels, even that is in place. The fire department said that they were going to issue a certificate that all the eventualities have been provided for the event."
Daniels added that Bayworld had been given the assurance by the organisors that the noise levels would not have an impact on the animals.
"When we realised the nature of the event, we called a meeting. From a health and safety point of view we are very concerned about the welfare of the animals and we were assured in terms of the noise levels it won't have an impact on the animals, we were given that assurance." says Daniels.
