A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her home in Richmond Hill in Gqeberha on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at about 1.40 am, neighbours heard glass breaking before the victim could be heard screaming from her home in Sherlock Street.
She says they responded and found her with multiple stab wounds lying on the floor.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the woman was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
She says the killer gained access to the property by breaking a side window.
It is not yet clear what was stolen and a case of murder is under investigation.
The deceased, whose name is known to Algoa FM News, must still be formally identified before her name can be released.
Humewood Detectives are investigating the murder.
