Gqeberha police are searching for a female suspect who allegedly set a bus on fire at the Eagle Bus Depot on Thursday morning.
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the suspect is allegedly embroiled in a dispute with the bus company over a cellphone.
He says it is alleged that she threatened to burn out the bus, before setting it alight.
Beetge says she fled from the scene and is still on the run.
Clouds of black smoke billowed from the bus and could be seen high in the air over Cape Road and surrounding areas.
Beetge says the Eagle Liner bus was completely destroyed while another bus was slightly damaged.
A case of arson was opened and police will now focus their investigation on finding the suspect.
It is not yet clear what the suspect used to set the bus on fire.
