Police in Nelson Mandela Bay arrested a teenage murder suspect who allegedly returned to the street in Schauderville where a man was shot dead on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident happened in Dinsmore Street in the afternoon after 36-year-old Dominic Ruiters was gunned down.
“It is further alleged that the suspect returned to the street and was arrested. The motive for the murder is gang-related,” Naidu said.
She said the 18-year-old is also detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm related to an earlier incident when he was chased by police and allegedly tossed a firearm away before scaling a wall.
“He was not arrested at the time and an inquiry was opened. The 9mm pistol recovered was reported stolen in Mangaung,” Naidu added.
She said the teenager is expected to appear in court on Monday.
