A Grade 5 learner from Clarendon Park Primary School in Gqeberha has died after a short illness.
In a notice sent out to parents, the principal, Derryk Jordan expressed the school's heartbreak after receiving the devastating news and encouraged parents to fetch their children if they wished.
Out of respect for family, the Woodridge Derby scheduled for this weekend and all league fixtures scheduled for Friday have been cancelled.
Advisory to Parents
Pediatricians also advised parents via the principal to establish which learners had been in direct contact with the learner who are now experiencing any flu-like symptoms to consult with their family doctor.
Parents are advised to ask their GPs about taking a course of Tamiflu for which a prescription is required.
The Grade 5 pupil was recently part of their Moana Junior Musical where her natural talents and graceful dancing were evident for all to see.
Jordan says she was a shining light in the Grade 5 passage, well-liked by both pupils and staff.
"She was a very special young lady and it was a privilege for us to call her a Clarendon Park pupil" he added.
