Police in Gqeberha have opened up an inquest docket after the body of a 35-year-old woman was found outside her house in Sherwood.
A spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the woman's fiancé and daughter arrived at her home in Hampshire Street on Thursday afternoon when they found her body.
She says the mother was lying on the lawn with an open wound on her neck.
Colonel Naidu says, with the information currently at their disposal, no foul play is suspected.
She says a post-mortem will be conducted to determine her exact cause of death.
Police urged the community and especially social media users to refrain from making speculations and to allow the investigation to take its course.
The name of the deceased was not released to the public.
