A Gqeberha man who allegedly murdered his mother made a brief appearance in the city's high court on Tuesday.
Maurice Butlion, 33, faces a charge of murder and arson relating to the death of his 65-year-old mother, Sharon-Ann, who died in a suspicious fire that engulfed her flat in Park Drive in September 2022.
Butlion's attorney' Advocate Johan van der Spuy of Legal Aid SA requested the postponement.
He told the court that he needed time to consult with and get clarity from his client on his instructions.
During a previous appearance in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court, Butlion indicated that he intends to plead guilty.
He was also found fit to stand trial, after undergoing a 30-day psychiatric evaluation at the Fort England Hospital in Makhanda.
