Acting Safety and Security Head, Warren Prins, said their cell phones were taken as they arrived on the scene on Wednesday.
He called the robbery at gunpoint disturbing, considering the fact that firefighters were there to help.
Prins says they are arranging counselling with their wellness centre which will determine when the firefighters will be back at work.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said she would comment once she has a case number.
Meanwhile, Prins said the fires in the Seaview/Beachview area were under control with mopping up and damping down now.
He says the same applies to the William Moffett / Overbaakens and Richmond Hill Areas which were of concern.
Prins says if the weather holds, then they could hopefully win the battle.
Working On Fired noted that the departure of two aircraft from George's Denneoord Fire Base to join the Nelson Mandela Bay firefighting efforts was delayed on Thursday morning due to low cloud and mist.
