The two suspects arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a Gqeberha policeman made a brief appearance in the City's magistrates court under heavy police guard on Wednesday.
The two men, aged 27, are charged with Constable Callan Andrews' murder and the theft of his service pistol.
The identity of the accused are known to Algoa FM News, however, the investigating officer requested that they not be named, citing safety concerns.
One of the suspects indicated that he intends to apply for bail and that he would be represented by a private attorney.
The other suspect has meanwhile abandoned his bid for bail.
He told the court that he would represent himself.
The case was remanded to the 15th of January for further investigation and for bail profiles to be verified.
On Tuesday, a 17-year-old appeared at Nerina House Youth Centre on the same case.
His matter was remanded to next month for further investigation and he remains in custody.
Andrews was gunned down in Helenvale on New Year's Eve, shortly after helping to push a broken-down police vehicle.
Earlier on Wednesday Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana confirmed that Andrews' service pistol was recovered in Gelvandale on Tuesday evening.
"This means an investigation on the pistol itself will be conducted."
As part of the investigation, the gun will be sent for ballistic testing.
