The four men arrested for allegedly attacking members of the Amadiba Crisis Committee on the Wild Coast were granted bail in the Mbizana Magistrate's Court on Monday.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luxolo Tyali said they were arested last month.
Their arrest is linked to ongoing violence between groups opposed to mining at Xolobeni and those in favour of titanium mining by an Australian company.
Tyali identified the suspects as 25-year-old Xolile Dimane, who works for a private company in the Western Cape, and 32-year-old Thembile Ndovela a ward committee member at the Mbizana local municipality.
He said the other two suspects, 32-year-old Mzukwana Mbhele and his 31-year-old brother Simthandile Mbhele, are both unemployed and based in Durban.
The suspects are originally from the Xolobeni area and have been released on a bail of R2000 each.
They are facing one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault and one count of robbery.
