The bail application for PE businessman Shaun Blunden finally got underway in the city's magistrate's court on Tuesday afternoon.
Blunden faces two charges of attempted murder for allegedly shooting his sister's ex-husband, Deon Williams, and for the alleged assault and pointing of a firearm at his niece, Kaylin Williams.
The Blunden Coach Tours boss faces additional charges of malicious damage to property and intimidation.
He has been in custody since his arrest on 20 June.
Blunden's lawyer, Paul Roelofse, on Tuesday read out an affidavit in which Blunden intimated that he would be able to pay a bail amount of R10 000. He also said that he would not interfere with state witnesses.
Blunden said that as a result of his involvement with the anti-gang organisation Padav in the 1990's, he was now receiving threats at St Albans prison where he is being held.
In his affidavit Blunden said that the family dispute related to a family which formed part of his late father's estate.
Meanwhile, investigating officer Vuyolwethu Pin, testified that Kaylin Williams had contacted an attorney to enquire about her grandfather's estate. According to a statement obtained by the police Blunden then called a family meeting where he allegedly made threatening remarks.
The hearing continues on Wednesday.
