Eastern Cape police are investigating whether a baby boy left on a Port Elizabeth street on Friday, is the one stolen from Dora Nzinga hospital.
Warrant Officer, Dumile Gwavu says the boy was left in New Brighton, by two women driving a BMW X5, with registration number FFG 552 EC.
Gwavu says police are waiting for DNA tests, that will help to determine whether the boy is the one who was taken, before he can be given back to the mother.
On Wednesday, a woman - pretending to be a student nurse - stole the newborn baby from the hospital.
Provincial health department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo says the woman woke the baby's mother on Tuesday night, and instructed her to take a bath.
He says when the mother returned, the so-called 'nurse' and baby were nowhere to be found.
