Baby boy abandoned at police station in PE

The police in Port Elizabeth have asked the public's help after a baby was abandoned at the Mount Road police station yesterday.

Spokesperson, Captain Stanley Jarvis, says a woman walked into an office yesterday afternoon, handed the baby and a carry-bag to a clerk and said in Afrikaans, "vat dit net." (Just keep it)

The woman then walked out and disappeared.

Jarvis says the baby was taken for a medical examination yesterday afternoon, and is being cared for in a place of safety.

The baby is about six months old, healthy, and is cutting teeth.

He has a mosquito bite mark on the one cheek and was recently inoculated.

Jarvis says the baby was dressed in a beige jumpsuit with a little hoodie.

He was dropped off by a short, petite woman, estimated to be in her early 30s.

Anyone with information about the identity of the baby or the woman, has been asked to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Samantha Nadia Morgan. Her cell phone number is 0848170528.
