Police in Lusikisiki have re-arrested an awaiting trial prisoner who was one of seven who escaped from police holding cells over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, captain Mduduzi Godlwana, said the men overpowered a policeman during meal time on Saturday before fleeing from the policecells.
He says one of the men was re-arrested on Sunday following a tip off by community members. Six are still at large.
Godlwana says three of the men were awaiting trial for murder and four for rape.
One of the escapees is Jojo Alex who is considered dangerous and is facing several murder charges.
Meanwhile, Godlwana says the policeman on duty will be appearing in court on Monday in connection with the break-out.
