A motorist who recorded himself driving his Audi at 308km/h on a Johannesburg highway has appeared in court.
The 36-year-old Siphumulile Mncube who lives in Midrand was arrested at a funeral in Polokwane this weekend.
Mncube's video, showing him driving at 308km/h on the N1 went viral on social media.
A spokesperson for Gauteng Traffic Obed Sibasa said the driver was arrogant and showed a complete disregard for the rule of law.
He also warned other motorists who were thinking of doing the same, that they too will be arrested.
The case against Mncube was postponed to the 12th and 13th of February.
The media brought an application to have the proceedings televised and this will first be dealt with on the 12th.
