East London police have arrested a man following an attempted armed robbery at the Exact store at the Hemingways Mall on Monday morning.
Captain Mluleki Mbi says police responded after one of the store employees raised the alarm with in-store security.
Mbi says one suspect fled the scene on foot and the other fired a shot before he was apprehended by security guards.Hemmingways Mall's General Manager Reinette van Tonder says no-one was injured in the incident and nothing was taken from the store.
She commended the Mall security team and the police for the fast and professional manner in which the incident was handled."We are currently working with police, who are reviewing our CCTV footage for their investigation.
We would therefore direct any further queries to the South African Police Service." she said
