Attack on EL councillor’s houses has court sequel

Six women are due to appear in court in East London on Friday for the recent attack on a Reeston councillor's house in which her physically disabled daughter was killed.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala, said the women were arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning.

They face charges of murder, arson and malicious damage to property following what appeared to be a revenge attack on the home of Buffalo City Ward 13 councillor,Nokulunga Matiwane.

Matiwane and her husband, Mthuthuzeli are co-accused in the murders of two women in an apparent jobs for cash scheme run by the councillor.

They both appeared in court in connection with the deaths of Nomboniso Twana andNombulelo Mpitipiti who were shot to death last month.

Matiwane is out on bail of R500 while her 60-year-old husband remains in custody.

Her case was postponed to October 2 for further investigation.
