At least 16 people were killed when a minibus taxi and a schoolbus collided on the R61 between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet on Saturday morning.
Police at the scene say several people were injured.
According to the latest reports, three people died in the schoolbus, and 13 in the taxi.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Tsepo Machaya says they cannot confirm the number of people injured, as they are still busy attending to them at the scene.
