Assets of former Buffalo City official frozen

The Grahamstown High Court has frozen the assets of former senior Buffalo City municipal official, Vuyo Zambodla and his co-accused Amanda Ncanywa.

The pair have been charged with corruption and defrauding the municipality of more than R400,000.

The charges related to the awarding of a tender to Ncanywa, a teacher, to organised projects for the 2009 Confederations Cup in Buffalo City.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Tsepo Ndwalaza, says the Grahamstown High Court served both accused with restraint orders yesterday, freezing their assets.

He says the pair go on trial in November.
