Arnold Terblanche posts bail of R1 million

Terblanche with his daughter Natalie

AlgoaFM News

Alleged wife-killer Arnold Terblanche walked out of the Magistrate's Court in Gqeberha into a glorious summer's day on Friday, rather than being led down to the holding cells and then back to St Albans Prison.

Its taken numerous failed bail attempts over more than a year of trying, but Terblanche is now finally free to live a relatively normal existence.

He posted a massive bail amount of R1 million on Friday morning and then left the Magistrate's court on the arm of his eldest daughter Natalie Nel and with his legal team beside him.

The High Court in Makhanda granted him bail on Thursday - overturning a previous order in the Magistrate's court - but with strict conditions.

Terblanche was ordered to hand over all his travel documents to the investigating officer, he has to attend court on each and every day as told and is not allowed to interfere with state witnesses.

He is also subject to house arrest from 8 pm to 6 am.

Terblanche stands accused of murdering his estranged wife Vicki Terblanche in October 2021 and had been in custody until Friday following his arrest in November 2021.

He is only the second murder-accused in South African legal history to be granted bail of R1 million after Oscar Pistorius.
