A South African National Defence Force member who was arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit heist at a petrol station in Oudtshoorn made his first court appearance on Monday.
The 35-year-old Captain Sakhele Nkabi appeared along with his three co-accused, Lwandiso Lento, Masixole Dolomba and Simphiwe Matwa.
They were arrested by the Hawks last week after security officers from Fidelity Cash Solutions were robbed while collecting cash from a petrol station on the 19th of July.
The Hawks arrested three suspects shortly after the robbery and the soldier was the last to be arrested after the suspects' car was searched.
In the vehicle, police found the gun stolen from the Fidelity Security guard, a sealed money bag with the stolen cash and a second firearm with its serial numbers filed off.
Captain Nkabi was arrested when the Hawks found a military uniform in the car with a loyal service medal pinned to the jacket with the name of the soldier.
A car with false number plates was also discovered not far from the military base.
The suspects appeared on charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
They will remain in custody until their next court appearance when they will formally apply for bail.
