East London police are investigating a case of business robbery after eight armed men robbed a Woolworths retail store in Hemingways Mall on Thursday night.
Provincial police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
He says no shots were fired and that no arrests have yet been made.
Nkohli said detectives are following up on all possible leads and that anyone with information is asked to contact their nearest police station.
He says some of the items stolen include perfume, clothing and cutlery.
Hemingways Mall Management says the robbers struck just after 8 pm and although the shop was closed, staff members were still inside.
It says Fidelity Security Services and the police were immediately notified of the robbery in progress and dispatched units to the scene.
CCTV footage has been gathered and submitted to the investigating unit and shows the suspects gained entry via the Upper Ground Level.
