Police in Hartenbos in the Garden Route are investigating an armed robbery at the popular Spur Steak Ranch in town on Thursday night.
According to eye-witnesses who were enjoying their meals, a few armed men entered the premises at around 9 pm.
Patrons were told to lie on the floor and were threatened to be shot if they did not obey.
Victims further stated that employees were forced to open the safe and wallets and cell phones were stolen from traumatized customers.
Spur told Algoa FM news that only a few diners were left in the restaurant consisting of some tourists and young people.
Patrons did not have to pay for their meals following the ordeal but had a few drinks afterwards to calm their nerves.
According to reports, there was not that much money on the premises.
Nobody was injured in the robbery and police are yet to respond.
No arrests have been made.
