Three gunmen have robbed the post office at the Fig Tree shopping complex in Port Elizabeth of an undiclosed amount of money.
Police captain Stanley Jarvis says the three men were all wielding firearms when they entered the post office at 6.30 on Thursday night.
They held up the cashiers and two customers and rifled throught the tills taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
They fled in a getaway vehicle.
Jarvis says no shots were fired but that one of the customers was severely traumatised and is believed to have suffered either a stroke or a heart attack.
The organised crime unit is investigating a case of armed robbery.
