Walmer police are asking people to stay away from Victoria Drive in Port Elizabeth, and the Arlington tip.
A section of Victoria Drive was closed on Thursday after striking refuse truck drivers strew garbage across the road as part of their strike action with the Metro.
The wild cat strike involves refuse removal drivers from the Uitenhage, Despatch, Motherwell, Struandale, Gale and Harrower Road depots who downed tools over pay related issues on Tuesday.
The Metro has repeatedly threatened them with legal action - but has yet to announce any definitive steps against the protesters.
Police captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg told AlgoaFM News that the Arlington tip had been closed and asked that residents looking to dispose of their refuse make use of other landfill sites in the city.
She also appealed to residents not to dump their garbage along Victoria Drive - where police are maintaining a watching brief.
