The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has urged consumers to use water sparingly as critical maintenance work needs to be done at the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment.
The Metro says a shutdown will be required for Wednesday, the 4th of May, as they will need to work on the East/West transfer system.
According to a statement, the maintenance was supposed to coincide with a planned Eskom shutdown later this month, however, due to a burst on the pipeline, the majority of the work will be done while the pipeline is being repaired.
