The case against murder accused Arnold Terblanche has dished up yet another plot twist.
Terblanche is appearing in the Magistrates Court in Gqeberha where he is fighting his third attempt for bail, based on new facts.
This time, it was the State who brought a surprise application to have the presiding officer, Magistrate Kriben Pillay recuse himself.
Pillay's name is mentioned in Terblanche's latest answering affidavit.
In his affidavit, Terblanche admitted that he paid a man, whose name is known to Algoa FM News, a deposit of R50 000 to do an interview with Mr Pillay in order to get a detailed background of his case, from his perspective.
The Magistrate, however, was never approached or paid.
The defence has opposed the latest application.
The matter was postponed until Friday.
Terblanche is accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of his estranged wife Vicki, whose body was found a year ago in a shallow grave on the outskirts of Gqeberha.
