Mossel Bay police are investigating the murder of a spaza shop owner who was shot dead on Thursday night.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie, says the 38-year-old man was killed in his shop on H. Dangatye Street, in JCC Camp.
He says the victim sustained a gunshot wound and was declared dead on the scene while the suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.
Pojie said the 20-year-old suspect crashed into a fence and was arrested while trying to flee the accident scene across from the Hotel Portao Diaz.
Da Gamaskop police are investigating a case of murder and a case of hijacking and the suspect will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile, this is the second fatal shooting of a Mossel Bay shop owner after Nazeem Petersen was gunned down in his business on Marlin Street, Extension 13.
The 65-year-old died in hospital while another man was wounded when four men robbed the business on 12 October.
