Another five murders under investigation in Gqeberha

Police in Gqeberha are investigating a triple murder following a shooting incident in Soweto-on Sea on Sunday.

Just hours after eight people were gunned down at a birthday party in Kwazekhele, police were also called out to a murder scene at a local tavern.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says on Sunday at 10 pm, the 28-year-old Sibusiso Jack ran into a local tavern where he collapsed due to a gunshot wound to the chest.

She says on hearing gunshots, the owner and his patrons hid, but when they emerged after a while they found another body outside.

Nineteen-year-old Anele Roxo was shot in the head and neck and was already dead.

Colonel Naidu says it was later established that the same suspects went to a nearby house where they shot a 35-year-old man in the head.

He was identified as Siyabonga Dakela.

Police are investigating three counts of murder.

On Sunday, a 15-year-old learner was also gunned down while walking home from a shop in Kwazakhele.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday two unknown men entered a house on Dubula Street in New Brighton where they shot and killed a 73-year-old woman.

The victim was identified as Nosipho Zwide.

The motive for her murder is not yet known.
