Another Fidelity guard gunned down for his firearm

Gqeberha police are appealing for information on the shooting of yet another security official on Thursday.

Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the latest incident occurred in Peter Street in Kwanoxolo as security officers were escorting a liquor truck doing deliveries.

She says two men approached and opened fire, killing one guard and taking his firearm.

The name of the 31-year-old deceased has not yet been released.

Last week a Fidelity Security Services officer was also gunned down in Perseverance and his firearm stolen.

Ridgeley Watson, 30, was shot multiple times while driving his Nissan NP200 on the corner of the M14 and Kohler Street.

It is alleged that one of the suspects reached into Watson's vehicle, stole his firearm, and fled the scene.

The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is now on the hunt for those involved.

Naidu says anyone who can assist with information should contact Bethelsdorp police.

Earlier this week, the Fidelity Services Group also appealed to the public in Gqeberha for information.

Commenting on Watson's death, Fidelity CEO, Wahl Baartman, said from the available evidence, it appeared that he was deliberately targeted.
