Three people have been killed and four others injured in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on the R61 between Cofimvaba and Ngcobo.
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport says a Hyundai i30 carrying six people collided with a VW polo on Sunday afternoon.
Both drivers and a 15-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai were killed on impact.
Four other passengers were rushed to Cofimvaba hospital with serious injuries.
It is alleged that speeding could be the main contributing factor for the accident.
Cofimvaba police have opened a culpable homicide docket.
