A boy from East London has drowned and another was rescued at Eastern Beach.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais, says the two got into trouble while swimming on Wednesday.
He says members of the public managed to rescue a 13-year-old boy.
The body of the other boy, believed to be about eight years old, was found in shallow water.
An inquest had been opened to investigate the incident.
