The former schoolteacher from Gqeberha who allegedly killed his ex-wife, made another brief court appearance on Thursday.
Johnny Baartman's case was called in the city's Magistrates Court, and he appeared via a CCTV connection from the St. Albans Correctional Centre.
Baartman, dressed in a red t-shirt and tracksuit pants, stared straight into the camera and verified his identity at the start of the case.
The state alleges that Baartman killed his ex-wife, Desiree, at the couple's Bethelsdorp home in June last year and that the murder was premeditated.
He faces an additional charge of defeating the ends of justice for allegedly concealing her body.
Police discovered Desiree's body in a stormwater drain near the Jagtersvlakte area along Stanford Road a few days after she was reported her missing.
Baartman, who has undergone a psychiatric evaluation at the Fort England Hospital in Makhanda, has been declared fit to stand trial.
He still in custody since abandoning his bail.
The case was remanded to 27 March for further investigation.
