Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Mongameli Bobani has taken to Twitter to announce the appointment of yet another Acting City Manager.
Noxolo Nqwazi is the latest official to hold the City Manager office in the Municipality.
The position has had no permanent appointment since the dismissal of Johann Mettler last year.
In the tweet, Bobani says the outgoing City Manager, Peter Nielson, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect due to medical reasons.
However, earlier this month, Algoa FM News reported that it had seen a letter signed by Eastern Cape Co-operative Governance MEC Fikile Xasa which appears to suggest Nielson may have overstayed his welcome.
The letter dated 24 April confirms that Nielson's appointment as acting city manager was only for a three month period, from the 4th of December last year to the third of March this year.
In the letter, MEC Xasa advises the municipality to write to him to request the secondment of a person to act in the City Manager's position until the disciplinary process against Mettler is finalised.
