Animal lovers called to volunteer in NMBM project

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is calling for volunteers as the Mayoral Animal Care Movement Kicks Off.

Consisting of a number of projects focusing on animal welfare, the Movement is the first of its kind in the City.

Executive Mayor Athol Trollip says that key to the success of these projects are partnerships with animal welfare organisations and the assistance of volunteers.

The first ever mass dog sterilisation project takes place in Motherwell on the tenth of June.

The Metro, in partnership with the Animal Welfare Society, is aiming to sterilise approximately 200 dogs on that day with a further 480 dogs to be sterilised in over a number of weeks in partnership with various veterinary clinics.

To achieve this ambitious launch event target, the Metro is calling for 14 volunteers, all of whom need to be qualified veterinary nurses or similar, to assist with procedures on the day -  for more information email kadelbert@mandelametro.gov.za
