The Department of Basic Education has hit out at the lobby group Equal Education over its ongoing campaign to establish norms and standards for schooling in the country.
A learner took the Department to court in Bhisho on Tuesday with the assistance of Equal Education in a bid to hold the Department accountable for the poor state of a Matatiele school.
The matter was postponed to the 22nd of October.
Hitting back, Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, labelled the Equal Education campaign disingenuous, questioning why a group of white adults are now taking up the cudgels on behalf of the African child.
She says the redrafted norms and standards for school infrastructure could take six months to complete.
