Leading national figures in the ANC are due back in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday to address the volatile political situation in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
One of the key sticking points is believed to be a differing of opinion between Mayor Benson Fihla and City Manager Lindiwe Msenga-Ndlela with regard to a court-case involving the Integrated Public Transport System.
The meeting will be attended by ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe, his deputy Jessie Duarte and national executive committee member Derek Hanekom.
Speaking on the Daron Mann Breakfast on AlgoaFM this morning, Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber President Mandla Madwara said it was time for the city fathers to bury the hatchet.
He welcomed Wednesday's visit by the ANC's National leadership.
"We are hoping that once and for all that they will intervene and hopefully sanity will prevail. We would wish also we could be given an audience to talk to them and make them understand the damage in the business community and the society at large, but there is a continuous tug of war between the leadership, Madwara said.
