Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Mongameli Bobani says the Metro is doing much better under his new coalition government.
Bobani, who hosted a media breakfast on Wednesday, highlighted the strides taken by the ANC-led coalition government since they took office in August last year, saying the Metro was now stronger and more united.
He said some of the achievements under the new administration include an improved collection rate and stable credit rating.
Bobani added that the Metro will now focus on unemployment challenges, bringing in investments, and projects aimed at cleaning up the city.
Meanwhile: The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape has recommitted itself to the promise of fighting corruption and speeding up service delivery to the people of the province.
The DA's Eastern Cape Premier Candidate, Nqaba Bhanga, was addressing supporters at the party's Alternate State of the Province Address at the Athenaeum in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
He said it was essential that they give an account on behalf of the people in the province and address the plight they face.
Bhanga added that the ANC-led government has drastically failed the people and that the DA intends to rectify this.
He said that top of their priority list was to ensure that long-term, sustainable jobs are created.
