The ANC in the Kouga Municipality has opened a legal case against the executive mayor, Horatio Hendricks.
This comes after the DA Mayor’s daughter Nikita Hendricks was appointed as an Auxiliary Officer in the Corporate and Digital Services Directorate of the Municipality.
At the time, Hendricks, through the municipality communications department, defended the decision to appoint his daughter.
He said in a statement that he was not involved with the appointment of his daughter and that as far as he was concerned, the appointment was fair, free, and transparent.
Mayor Hendricks also branded the accusations of the ANC as unfounded and nowhere proven or corroborated by facts.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, confirmed to AlgoaFM News, however, that a case had been opened by the ANC.
"A case of prohibition on offer, or acceptance of a benefit for commission of an act in relation to certain powers or duties, was opened on Thursday the 19th of January at the Police Station in Jeffrey's Bay, " said Colonel Naidu.
She said the case was opened by the ANC against the Kouga Municipality Mayor and that the allegation borders on nepotism.
Colonel Naidu said the case docket was forward to the senior public prosecutor for a decision on Monday morning.
