PORT ELIZABETH,September 7 (ANA) – An African National Congress (ANC) branch leader from Zwide in Port Elizabeth has been gunneddown.
ANC regional spokesperson, Gift Ngqondi, confirmed on Thursday morning that Thando Xakaxa was gunned down on Wednesday night. According to Ngqondi, Xakaxa was killed.
“A branch leader from Ward 25 in Zwide was gunned down last night around whilst arriving at his home,” said Ngqondi.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said “it is alleged that on 6/09 at about 20:20, Thando Xakaxa(41) drove into his yard in Betram St Zwide. He was returning from a prayer meeting.”
“His family who was inside the house heard a gunshot. When his father came out he saw Xakaxa slumped in his car. He sustained a bullet wound to his head.”
“It is suspected that the motive may be related to tenders. No arrests and a murder case is under investigation,” Naidu said.
