The Amathole District Municipality has reiterated its appeal to residents in drought stricken communities to use water sparingly.
In a statement on Tuesday, ADM said that the plea comes amid some relief brought by the ‘insignificant’ rain in areas within the Great Kei Local Municipality.
AMD said it had “no impact on the critically low Gcuwa dam in Butterworth.”
“As such, ADM is left with only a few more days of water supply before the water runs out completely,” said spokesperson Siyabulelo Makunga.
“ADM also welcomes the partial restoration of water in Fort Beaufort, brought by Water tankers which will continue to cart water to the town and surrounding areas until such time that water is fully restored,” he said.
