A Mossel Bay man accused of stealing a boat engine and then escaping from custody has been re-arrested.
The 22-year-old Francois Stander was due to appear in the Great Brak River Magistrates' Court last Tuesday when he managed to run away.
Stander was tracked down in Jeffreys Bay over the weekend where he was re-arrested.
He is expected to appear in court on Monday where an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody will be added to his charge sheet.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Laurianne Botha says the circumstances of his escape are also being investigated.
According to local police, a charge of theft was also opened against Stander in George.
