Alleged mastermind in Mossel Bay murder points finger at friend

A 27-year-old man pleaded not guilty to all four charges against him when he appeared in the Circuit High Court in Mossel Bay on Monday in connection with the horrific murder of the Human couple from Great Brak River.

The alleged mastermind, Stephen Lekoro faces two charges of murder and two charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Lekoro fled to Lesotho after the murder of 72-year-old Tewie Human and his 62-year-old wife Eurika in June of 2016.

He was arrested in Bloemfontein in November of last year.

In his plea explanation, Lekoro told Judge Mark Sher that he was at the Human household on the day of the murder but that he had a fight with Tewie who hit him with the fist.

Lekoro says he then stabbed Tewie with a knife and ran away.

He put all the blame on his friend, 27-year-old Thamsanqa Sishuba, who is currently serving two life sentenced for his part in the murders.

Lekoro, who fled to Lesotho after the murders, said he knew nothing about the double murder.

The trial continues.
