The Wits University student accused of killing his 20-year-old former girlfriend and a fellow student appeared briefly in the Dutywa Magistrates court in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Viwe Rulumeni allegedly assaulted, choked and stabbed Kwasa Zozo in full view of several eye-witnesses on the 17th of August.
The accused tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of pills but he was caught by police and taken to a hospital in Butterworth under police guard.
He was released soon after and made his first appearance in the Dutywa Magistrates last week.
During his court appearance on Wednesday Rulumeni abandoned his bid for bail.
The case has been postponed to the 6th of October.
