A 29-year-old man from Gqeberha is expected to make his first appearance in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on a charge of murder.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart says a group of men had an argument over bread and meat at a tavern in NU11 on Monday.
She says it is alleged that a fight broke out between them, during which one of the men was stabbed multiple times while the suspect's ear was cut off.
The injured were taken to the Motherwell Health Centre for medical treatment, where 30-year-old Sinetemba Peter passed away.
Captain Swart says the suspect, whose ear was cut off, was arrested the following day at the Health Centre.
